Because of the increasing number of confirmed cases of mumps at Indiana University Bloomington, the campus -- in cooperation with the Monroe County Health Department and the Indiana State Department of Health -- offered free measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations to students, faculty and staff during two clinics this week and administered 1,105 vaccinations. Currently the need is being evaluated to determine if additional clinics are needed. Nurse staffing capacity has been reached so nurses able to volunteer their time is needed.
If you are licensed to administer vaccinations and willing to volunteer, please send me your availability. More details will be provided closer to the day. All volunteers will be required to have an up-to-date SERV-IN account (if you need to sign up please see attached instructions). Volunteer scheduling will need to be completed as soon as possible. If you are interested in volunteering, please email me ASAP with the subject line "Mumps Outbreak". Emailing me does NOT commit you to volunteering but simply ensures you will get more information including shift times and volunteer roles.
